Instruments ◊ The Dulcemelos

Margit researched and designed her own instrument in collaboration with the instrument builder Bernd Maier, using diagrams from a 15^th century manuscript by Arnaut de Zwolle.

The instrument has 12 double strings in a chromatic scale.  There are 2 octave-bridges which the strings cross thus creating a scale of 3 chromatic octaves. It is played by hitting the strings with small ‘hammers’ with heads made of wood, leather or felt.
