Yvonne
Eddy was born in Newcastle upon Tyne and developed her interest in early
music whilst studying at the University of Manchester with David
Fallows.
In 2001 she moved to Switzerland to follow a postgraduate course in
Medieval and Renaissance music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in
Basel, studying singing with Kathleen Dineen and Evelyn Tubb. She
completed her studies in Basel in 2004 and now sings with several
professional church choirs in London. Yvonne currently studies voice
privately with Stefan Haselhoff in Basel. During her time in Basel,
Yvonne participated in a production of Lampe’s Baroque comic opera
‘The Dragon of Wantley’ at Theater Basel and in an all-female
production of Purcell’s ‘Dido and Aeneas’. She is the director
of Levedy, an ensemble of female voices specialising in the
repertoire of the 12th to 14th centuries and is
also a member of the medieval ensembles Perlaro and Le Basile,
with whom she has performed across Europe.
Recent
performances include Hildegard of Bingen’s ‘Ordo Virtutum’ with
Vox Animae and soprano soloist in Bach’s ‘St
John Passion’
in
Bermuda; she also sings on the recently released CD from the vibrant
young medieval group Mediva, ‘Gabriel’s Message’.
